bkandkorenB.K.S. Iyengar is considered one of the foremost yoga teachers in the world and has been practicing and teaching since 1933. He’s a living yoga master recognized in 2004 by Time magazine as one of the 100 most influential people of the century. In 1966 Iyengar wrote Light on Yoga, the most thorough examination of yoga poses ever written. Recently he wrote Light on Life, part inspirational biography, part manual for living, and part philosophical text.

Iyengar systemized a method of classic yoga known for its thorough exploration of poses as they impact the physical, emotional, spiritual, physiological and psychological well-being of each individual student. Recognized as the leading authority on yoga therapy, Iyengar provides the means to bring about deep levels of healing that are profoundly transformative.

Iyengar yoga is appropriate for anyone, regardless of age, degree of health or other perceived limitations. The Iyengar method teaches students how to develop strength and flexibility; it gives them an increased ability to focus, observe, and relax; and it encourages understanding and compassion toward oneself and others.
